Locks

Locks
8”x10”
Watercolor
Chris Breier © 2015
The original painting is available. This painting has a close up view of one of the locks located in downtown Lockport NY. The locks help boats to navigate the changes in elevation in the Erie canal, the large doors at the ends close so the water can be drained out of it to lower the boat.  If the boat is traveling in the opposite direction, water can be pumped in to raise it.

My favorite part of this painting is the water, I managed to capture the reflections without overworking it. I believe the church in the distance is St Mary’s. I painted a close up view of it which I will post in the future).
