Cottage Street Bridge

Cottage Street Bridge

On my drive home from Olcott I stopped in Lockport to walk around and look for subject matter to paint. I took a number of pictures but I didn’t want to spend too much time there because I had a dozen ears of sweet corn and some peaches in the trunk of the car. It was a hot summer day and I wasn’t sure how long they would last in the trunk. There are a number of old and interesting buildings in Lockport, the church with the steeple is St Mary’s.

I incorporated many wet into wet techniques with this watercolor and I also used white gouache for the highlights and to create some of the reflections in the water.
