Tree Composition

Tree Composition
Acrylic on gessobord
8"x10"
Chris Breier © 2017
I took a walk around the neighborhood for the pleasure of it. I wasn't looking for exercise or looking for subject matter, but then I spotted the way this sunlit tree and I decided I wanted to make a painting from it. I've always had an affinity for trees. When I was younger I had a book that could be used to identify the various species that are found in the Northeast. The funny thing is that I can't identify this tree by looking at the painting, I'd have to go back to take a look at the leaves and bark.

Trees and Puddles

A painting of trees at the UB bike trail in Amherst NY.
Trees and puddles
Acrylic on gessobord
5”x7”
Chris Breier © 2017
This stand of trees is in a slight valley near one of my favorite walking paths. Whenever it rains these puddles form around around them which creates bright silvery reflections. The sunset was starting to wind down and the warm colors of the sky play well off the cool saturated greens of the landscape. I enjoy observing these moments in nature, it's a good way to get away the stress of modern life. Bid in the auction for Trees and Puddles.

Lakeview

An acrylic painting of trees and Lake Ontario at Krull Park.
Lakeview (SOLD)
Acrylic on Gessobord
5”x7”

This is another painting of Lake Ontario. The shape of the hills makes this painting immediately recognizable as Krull Park. I painted the water a brilliant blue so it looks like the ocean. I also used ultramarine blue for the sky which makes the water stand out even more. This is a nice place to spend a summer afternoon taking it easy and eating fresh peaches from a local farm. The original painting is available.
